How to make a piggy bank with paper mache?

made one many years ago in grade school...blew up a balloon then covered it with vaseline petroleum jelly. then covered it with 3 or 4 layers of newspaper strips that were dipped into the paper mache glue mixture.Didn't cover the tail end of the balloon so it could be removed later. Let that dry then popped the balloon with a pin & pulled it out.used masking tape to add the legs, snout and tail that were pieces cut from egg cartons & covered those with the newspaper strips that were dipped in the mache mixture. let that dry, cut a slot for the coins & painted it.

Okay so theres this guy ive liked for a while now and his name is jessie. Hes pretty shy, but hes popular. Hes in my art class. I went out with an guy who I thought was such a gentleman, classy, and genuine. The first time we met we get along sooo well, it was "to natural".During dinner, it felt like a freakin job interview. I know you're supposed to get to know each other but dang, I wasn't expecting to get asked all these "wifey" questions and get judged on it. I am who I am and will not apologize for it but the whole time, he made it seem like my answers weren't "good enough" or not what he was looking for. I'm a lady, good girl, friendly/easygoing, gets along w. everyone. I'm not your average woman, I'm me. And here's this guy, asking, "do you get along w. your co-workers? are you an angry person?" WTH?! I appreciate honest/straight forward people but really? Even if I did give him "answers" he was looking for, you're not really gonna get these answers unless you back it up with experience and observation. It's like "oh she didn't give me the answers I wanted, that saved me such heartache." He just made me feel like I wasn't "good enough" and came across as judgmental and it's like he kept asking questions to make sure he didn't get hurt. Like, "if i get these answers, i'll know if she'll screw me over or not..." He never called. Maybe it's a blessing. It's been a while and in my head, any respectable person would not want to be w. someone so judgmental and have a "job interview" experience but I can't help but be a bit traumatized by it still. I think it's because I didn't go through the motions; I avoided feeling rejection bc I was afraid it would make me feel worse and lead me on a path of self-wallowing and self pity. How long does papier mache last, I want to make art with it?

I have an idea for art pieces that I want to make, out of papier mache (cardboard and paper - using coffee filters and brown paper towel for the strips), actually I have already made five and they look pretty cool. It's like a 3 dimensional abstract painting of a cityscape and the buildings are made of rectangular prisms that stick out, they have lots of texture... hard to explain but I paint them in acrylics and they can hang on a wall, and you can put a bunch together to make a metropolis. Well the only problem is that they are papier mache, I just used recycled carboard box card and cereal box card so it is probably very acidic, my friend said I should sell them or put them in a gallery (she was only being nice lol) and one person I showed them to wanted to buy them, but I am worried that they are not high quality enough to be fine art because they are not made with archival quality materials which really I cannot afford. Do you think papier mache is okay for making art pieces with, that are considered art and not just crafts or folk art? 5 weeks 3 days pregnant and terrified..?

I had a miscarriage not this Christmas but the one before and I just recently found out I am pregnant again! Ok I havE a 20 gal with glolite tetras, platties 2 male guppies albino cories and 1 male blue neon dwarf gouraMi. In my 40 gal, I have cherry barbs, albino cherry barbs, black neon tetras, gold tetras, cardinal tetras, panda platties guppies and 1 male flamming dwarf gourami. I relize some of these may souls over stocked but I plan on getting a 75 gal tank really soon and here's wat I'm gunna do. I am for sure going to take all the 40 gals fish and water and rock and everything outa it and put it Im my new 75 gal that I'm getting soon. My questions are, could my male flamming dwarf gourami and my male blue neon dwarf gourami go in the 75 gal together at the same time and be civil with eachother? If so, could I add another male at the same time with them? And if they get along, would get like 4-6 female dwarf gouramis make them really agressive towards eachtoher and all the other fish? So I just want to no if 3 male dwarf gouramis, and 4-6 female dwarf gouramis can be together in a 75 gal tank with a bunch of other smaller fish without any agresstion to eachother or my other fish? Could I just take all the 40 gals water and put it in the 75 gal and then add 35 more gallons with tap water, with conditioner in it to fill up the rest and have it be safe to put my fish in it right away? If not, how should I make the switch to my 40 gal to my 75 gal without any fish dying, how should I move the rocks and how should I clean new ones to the point where ican just dump them in cuz I would need to buy more. ok so i have this question im a short girl about 4'10 and im seven months pregnant. i think clay, as long as it is thin or glass. to shape glass though you do need a torch or some heat source. even maybe wood if its thin, but i don't think that would give the effect you need. use clay like they use for plates and coffee mugs. or, if you want to be creative, you could actually get a whole bunch or eggs shells up and break them into small pieces (not too small) and glue them together to make a giant egg. hope this helped. good luck!

Any paper m�ch�-ers out there? I desperately need your help.?

Wad up newspaper for your basic forms and then wrap them with masking paper. Tape the forms together to make the doll armature. Rip newspaper into 4" x 1.5" strips. Mix flour with water until it makes a paste. Dip the strips into the paste, squeegee with your fingers, apply to the doll armature. Layer 3 times, horizontally, vertically, horizontally. Let dry for at least a week. Paint it with tempera.

Ok, so i love this girl. Alot. We've been together for well over a year now and we've talked about marriage and kids. We have our different values and such and i am able to look past those. Tonight, though, we had a lengthy conversation on things we disagreed and it hit me all of a sudden. It being that i realized i didn't want my kids to be raised by someone with her values. I can look past them, but they're complete opposite to mine and i just don't want my children to have them. Thing is I'm rather young. Epoxy is probably your best bet. It is very durable and will harden nicely around your mask. Epoxy also protects against the elements well and it should be fine to take your mask outside. I'm not sure sure about the paint, but acrylic might work well over the epoxy. You should also consult an associate for advice at whatever store you will buy the epoxy at. I hope that this helped!

A few weeks ago my neighbor introduced me to her son. Later she would go on to tell me how him and his wife/girlfriend (I forgot which) argue a lot. Painting and decorating paper mache?

i've made a paper mache island for my little boys playmobil pirate ship, pirates, skeletons, treasure etc, and i now need to know which paint is best to paint it with, acrylic or poster paint? also, i was wondering if adding real sand to the beach part of the island would be possible by mixing it in with the paint, then painting on or would this not work? would it just come off when my son starts playing with his toys on it? thanks in advance

Just draw it out with a ruler or Alphabet Stencil from your normal art store and have a sharp edge like a exato knife or something similar and it should be easy.to cut it out from there.

Do you have experience with baby red eared sliders in outdoor ponds?

We have 2 baby RES's. About an inch or so long. We have had them for 3 days, and put them in our 500 gal. outdoor pond. They really haven't eaten that much at all. We take them out twice a day to feed them in a rubbermaid container. The only reason we take them out is 1. to see if they are actually eating, and 2. if we just place the food in the water, my goldfish eat it. We offered them commercial turtle food, as well as bits of squash and carrots, and a half dead minnow. We have only seen them take a nip from the commercial food. They weren't even interested in the fish. I'm wondering if we should even continue to take them out or just put the food in the water and hope they are getting something. The reason I wonder this is because I'm wondering if it's stressful for them for us to catch them and remove them from the pond. One of them stays in the water all the time. The other one climbs out on a big rock we have provided for them. I am worried that at least the one is not getting the basking time it needs, and if we should put them in the container with a basking light. Wondering if that might help the eating. I don't know. So obviously, any and all suggestions are more than welcome as we learn how to take care of these little ones.

Paper mache over Styrofoam doll making?

i would tape the styrofoam first so then that way the paper will have something to stick to. Ive used flour and water to paper mache for years and ive had no problem with mold. I just let it dry between each layer of paper. set it in the sun and it will dry quickly. I then coat it with a layer of sealant before i paint... Good luck and hope i helped a little...LEBE

to look fake the extensions would have to be ridiculously long and if your hair is already thick i wouldn't personally buy extensions as you will have even more hair to deal with. also if you straighten your extensions after around 4-6 months they will shorten as the ends break off so you will have to replace them with new ones.

I ask this because the term African American is used for all black people without specification of the generation. What i would do is, i would put it in the corner of the tank, and put some shrubbery around it like live or fake floating plants, and then the water can flow through the plants causing a cool effect. Then the other fish, if they want, can swim on the other side. Hope this helped :)

Tank water is got filthy over night?

Ok so I have a 37 gal which is currently home to three baby lionheads, one pearlscale, three plecos, one bamboo shrimp, and about three mystery snails. My dad got me two new fish just a couple days ago (one lionhead and the pearlscale) and before they were there, I had two baby koi in the tank but they harassed the pearlscale so I have them in a separate tank while I am fixing the pond outside. I know that goldfish tend to be a messy breed, but I hadn't had any problems before, especially considering the fact that before these two new arrivals came I had three goldfish and two koi in there... (I have a butterfly goldfish quarantined for ick...) I have had the tank set up for a while now. Maybe two months? And all the decor and gravel used in this tank was used in my previous tank (accidentally broke while trying to move it) so I know the decor and gravel isn't to blame. I'm not overfeeding as I only feed them flakes once a day and a piece of sundried seeweed before the lights are turned off. I would try cutting back on the amount of fish in the tank but as of now, all my other tanks are being used. The cloudiness is milky white in color. I have three different plants in the tank as well as a bubble wall and two bubble dragon decors. So I know lack of oxygen isn't the cause. Any one have any suggestions? I checked the tank and no one has mysteriously died and I had just siphoned the gravel and did a 30% water change the other day.

you can use wallpaper paste or flour and water to make paper mache, evo stick is good to stick things together too. if you lay some blocks of polystyrene down you can lay some sheets of damp newspaper down and use the wallpaper paste to stick them down if you want to make model hills.

Hi,I plan on getting a freshwater 75 gal tank soon, very soon and I just want to get my fish stocking ideas down before I start. Ok. Right now I have a 40 gal tank with 4 cherry barbs, 4 albino cherry barbs, 5 black neon tetras, 4 cardinal tetras, 6 gold tetras, 5 pAnda platties, like 15 guppies or less( not sure) 5 juli cories 2 albino bristle nose plecos, a few ghost shrimp, and 1 male flamming dwarf gourami. Ik it may or may not sound over crowded but this is why I'm getting a bigger tank and plus, having a 75 gal tank would be my dream( I'm obsessed with fish)!! I plan on fill the 75 gal up will all the rocks from my 40 gal, get a few more bags and putting them in also. Add accesories and the few plants i have witch i willl be getting way more cuz i want this tank to be fully planted. ( The plants will go in after the water is in). i don't think there is a fix time but you should be able to add the next layer after 5 min as long as you did not use to much glue..also a good trick is to use plain paper then newspaper then plain paper so you can see were you still have to cover.

When blow drying paper mache, should i use hot air or cold air?

im currently making a pinata and i need it by sunday so i still have a bit of time. It's my first time so im not sure if i am doing it right but i dont feel like the paper mache is drying fast enough. I am planning to blow dry it, should i use hot air or cold air? because i have read it in other articles that i can blow dry but it doesnt specify the temperature. and is it meant to be hard on the balloon?? it feels kinda soft when i touch it. What's going on with me at work?

Not sure what's going on for a while but Im noticing that my pace is slower only at work. I want to better myself. I need your advice. I've had so many jobs and most recent one I unfortunately got fired. I used to work for a non profit for so many years I loved it and was praised for my work I was an Administrative Coordinator. I left that job 2 years ago to go abroad and now I'm at a new job and will soon be hired permanent. It requires alot of Data entry which I tend to slow down on and I don't do it on purpose I'm a good worker and Im praised at other tasks which is why I'm getting a permanent position. I want to enhance my skills and I can practice my data entry but i tend to see others be more ahead of me. Like today I had to input data entry it's taken me 2 days and gal next to me took her 2 hours! I couldn't believe it I was so embarrased and my manager noticed it and appointed it to me in front of everyone.This job will start for me in two months and I don't want to disappoint my manager or anyone. I remain positve and I'm willing to do whatever it takes. I have a family to attend to and would be devasted if this worsens. Please advise me what should I do to enhance myself?(Yoga, Medication, I've heard this help memorization ect)

How do I avoid negativity when I felt judged on a date?

I went out with an guy who I thought was such a gentleman, classy, and genuine. The first time we met we get along sooo well, it was "to natural".During dinner, it felt like a freakin job interview. I know you're supposed to get to know each other but dang, I wasn't expecting to get asked all these "wifey" questions and get judged on it. I am who I am and will not apologize for it but the whole time, he made it seem like my answers weren't "good enough" or not what he was looking for. I'm a lady, good girl, friendly/easygoing, gets along w. everyone. I'm not your average woman, I'm me. And here's this guy, asking, "do you get along w. your co-workers? are you an angry person?" WTH?! I appreciate honest/straight forward people but really? Even if I did give him "answers" he was looking for, you're not really gonna get these answers unless you back it up with experience and observation. It's like "oh she didn't give me the answers I wanted, that saved me such heartache." He just made me feel like I wasn't "good enough" and came across as judgmental and it's like he kept asking questions to make sure he didn't get hurt. Like, "if i get these answers, i'll know if she'll screw me over or not..." He never called. Maybe it's a blessing. It's been a while and in my head, any respectable person would not want to be w. someone so judgmental and have a "job interview" experience but I can't help but be a bit traumatized by it still. I think it's because I didn't go through the motions; I avoided feeling rejection bc I was afraid it would make me feel worse and lead me on a path of self-wallowing and self pity. (I USED to be like that before and took rejection badly but for the past 2 yrs, I've been surprisingly better about it). All I know is that I'm a busy gal and I don't like people being indecisive and wasting my time. What should i do for my art final piece?

A question about fish tank cycling?

You can easily buy something called prime from a local fish store that will do the job. Or you can let the tank be idle meaning, let the filter fun and whatever else without fish for a few days and that should be fine. Fish should not be added until after the cycling of the water in the tank because the fish may not be able to survive due to the chemicals and lack of oxygen of the water. The best is just getting prime, look it up on petco or petsmarts website. They should also have it at walmart. The bottle seems expensive but you only use a few drops so it lasts a good about of time. I have been using it for a while it helps with purifying the water as well as the slime coat of your fish so it keeps them healthy.

He is just scared. Animals have to get used to their environment so give it some time to look around! He will soon get used to the noises in a week or so. This happened to my guinea pig tom tom who recently passed away after i changed his old cage! How do I light a papier mache doll house?

I am planning to make a papier mache doll (fairy) house, but have no experience of putting lighting into this kind of structure. I know that some people somehow use tape as part of the circuit, I wonder if this would work if embedded inside the papier mache walls (which would mean that for a temporary time it would be wet with glue/water). Is it still possible to become pregnant during AF?

i was a normal 28 days, then it went weird and was 32 now it seems i am now a 26 day gal, now my af lasts longer too, so it used to be about 7 days but i find it lasting about 11days (most of it just spotting) but when i do the calculations for ovulation they say im ovulating while i'm on. so is this true? also isnt it quite hostile while you are on AF for sperm? is it still possible to get pregnant?

Paper Mache on a balloon?

Yes after you dip the strips of paper in the mixture (you should slid the paper through your finger tips to brush off excess paste) you simply place the strips onto the balloon (it's best to put all the pieces going in one direction for the first layer and then in a crisscross direction on the next layer to make a stronger product alternating each layer.). You should place several layers of paper to give it enough strength (5 or more if you want a strong product, at least 3). Make sure one layer dries before adding another one to prevent mold from forming. Also your flour and waster mixture should have a few tablespoons salt (yes tablespoons not teaspoons) to prevent molding. You leave a hole around the bottom where the balloon ties, you can grab the tie of the balloon when you think it's dry enough and tug it a bit to see if the paper mache is solid enough to stay in formation. If you've added enough layers and if it's dried enough it will stay in formation.

I am not sure that this will help but you mentioned the materials you have left. If you have someone really good, make some bones. Also its winter, put down snow. Find twigs that could resemble trees and the smallest of the twigs spread them around for the branches that fell off the tree when it fell. The bones could be put by the tree that fell on one of the Hessian's. Sorry but that is all that comes to mind at this time.
