Would this work to dye my pants with?

I want to dye a pair of my blue jeans black, but i want to leave a blue design on it. If i mixed up flour and water (like paper mache), drew the design on with the mix and let it harden, then soaked it in a fabric dye, and peeled it off when i was dying them, then would that leave the design??? If not, how could I do this?
